SPOTLIGHT ON: Vicky Magana
Well-trained and equally well-traveled, Vicky Magaña brings a wealth of event planning and hospitality experience to the AZA Events team. A native of the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Vicky first made her mark on the battlefield, serving overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the U.S. Army before returning statewide to secure a culinary degree at Le Cordon Bleu College in Scottsdale. Having spent many years in catering, food service, and the extensive preparation of it all, Vicky is AZA’s go-to for culinary ventures.
Nowadays, she draws upon the discipline learned in the military and her immense knowledge of catering, food service and preparation in her role as AZA’s Event Coordinator. In addition to helping orchestrate events and occasions of all types, Vicky takes a special interest in weddings and perfecting even the most minute details of a couple’s big day. An avid reader, Vicky spends her off-the-clock hours alongside her husband, a pastry chef, and her two chocolate labs.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working Destination Management + Events?
A: I love the unpredictability of what each day can bring (not during a program of course!).
Q: When you aren’t in the office or at an Event, where can we find you?
A: At home, reading a good mystery novel! Currently I am finishing up the Armand Gamache series and up next is the Nikki Heat series!
Q: What do you love about AZA’s destinations (Arizona + San Diego)?
A: Arizona – there is something here for everyone: Snow, desert, cacti, high adventure activities, water activities, sun shine 300 days out of the year!
Q: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of time, what would it be and why?
A: Hands down a Hot Dog… has to be Chicago Style though!! But if my husband asks, its Pizza!
